Visuals serve as key facilitative aids for collective seeing and navigation. As visual practitioners in especially challenging times, we face a particular need and opportunity to expand the awareness, mindsets, and choices that feed our outward expression.
Over this three-day workshop we will combine tools, practice, theory, exercises, reflection, and peer learning to explore the following:
- 101 on Graphic Facilitation tools: A deeper and further exploration of the value of lettering, illustration, use of space and modeling in our visual practice
- A model of practice that grounds inner cultivation – listening, discerning, sensemaking: These elements create the real value of our work as graphic facilitators, giving visual the power of really contributing to a conversation or group dynamic
- What it means to use drawings to support and change the dynamics in a conversation: How does visualisation support dialogue? How does it contribute in a group, and how can it help shift a conversation or bring focus to the right things? We will explore different frameworks we can use while listening to a conversation and how to apply visualisation tools to influence its dynamics.
Who should participate?
This workshop is ideal for those who want to start exploring the practice of Graphic Facilitation, practitioners who want to deepen their skills and facilitators who have experienced graphic facilitation and want to enhance their own capacity of using visual tools in their work.
Drawing will be the primary form of practice. It is not required that participants be skilled scribes – but be prepared to use this modality as the main means of application over the course of the workshop.
